RCH Profile
Ringgold County Hospital is a 25-bed Critical access hospital operating under Chapter 347 of the Code of Iowa. The hospital opened on April 17, 1951, with 21 employees. Today, we have 125 employees, many in positions using technology not yet imagined in 1951.
Services provided by the hospital have expanded beyond inpatient care. We now provide same-day and out-patient surgeries, infusion therapy, cardiac rehab, sleep studies, renal dialysis, physical rehab, and much more. The hospital also owns and operates the Ringgold County ambulance service and the Mt. Ayr Medical Clinic. New services and equipment are added as resources permit so that Ringgold County Hospital can continue to fulfill its mission to the community.
Ringgold County Hospital has been managed since 1986 through an affiliation agreement with Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines, which provides administrative and other support services at the hospital's request. In the current healthcare environment, it is critical for our hospital to stay abreast of new developments and technologies and gain advantages from sharing resources to benefit the patients we serve.
